Wait…What is an escape room?
Escape rooms are typically an experience where you are locked in a room that you are trying to escape by solving a series of puzzles and riddles to escape the room. For us here at Room Escapers in Boston, it is much more. While we love the puzzling side of these adventures, we see them as an escape from reality, not from a locked room. We provide interactive, immersive experiences that allow you to escape from the real world for a little while. Epic story lines and missions will have you exploring worlds you never thought possible.
So we aren’t actually locked in the room?
No. Our adventures are all mission based, so you are trying to break into things, not out of them.
Sweet! We get to break things?
Do I need a reservation?
Yes and our booking process is easy! Just click our Book Now page and choose the date and time for your adventure. If the time and date that you want to play is not available, we will gladly open outside of normal business hours for corporate teams and parties of 4+. The price is $30 per person.
Call/text us for last minute availability – 857-400-9144.
Can I book for 2 people or less?
Reservation slots open to 1 & 2 person reservations once a particular time slot has been booked for at least 3 people. Our current themes are optimal for 6+, so we highly recommend gathering a couple more teammates or booking into a time slot that already has a couple of players booked in.
Do we need any special skills or knowledge?
Nope! Our adventures will give you an adrenaline rush, but it only requires the ability to observe, open your mind to creative thought and to apply logic.
Are there age restrictions?
Kids love our games, but we do have some restrictions. For players aged 13-17 there must be one participating adult for every two children in public bookings. Ages 14-17 can participate alone in a private room with a parent on site. For ages 13 and under in private rooms we require one adult for every 4 children. Children 6 and under should not attend.
How long does the escape game last?
The escape game is roughly 60-70 minutes. The event starts promptly at your scheduled start time. Please account for downtown Boston traffic and parking and plan accordingly. On average teams spend 80-85 minute on site.
How much does it cost?
$30 per person. If you do not book the required room minimum for a private party, you could potentially be grouped with other players.
What is the “required room minimum” for a private room?
This is our way of making it more cost effective for groups to book the private room. Once the room minimum is met (this varies by theme), the room will be then blocked off as a private room. For example, The Pirate’s Booty II has a room minimum of 6, so if your party books 6 slots, the experience is all yours! This gives you flexibility when you aren’t sure if everyone in your party can make it — you can pay for additional players over the room minimum at the door.
Can I buy a Room Escapers gift certificate?
Room Escapers Gift Certificates make awesome gifts for families and friends and are a unique gift for company partners, employees and parties. Several of our customers have bought private escape room games and then included themselves on the invite list!

What if there are just a couple of us?
Our current escape games are optimally designed for 4-10 players. We suggest that you ask friends to join you, or book in a room with other players scheduled. Otherwise, we may contact you to combine players to ensure an optimal game experience. We are in the process of building some themes for smaller groups, so stay tuned for announcements about upcoming themes.
Can I book a private escape game?
Sure! Simply book the minimum number of participants required for that theme to make the room private. Please note this varies slightly from theme to theme.
What is the difference in recommended and allowed participants?
For each theme, we have listed our recommended number of participants. This is the number of people we think is optimal for completing the mission. Since we have opened we have found that this number wildly varies depending on how experienced of a Room Escaper you are, and we have realized that every group wants different things! Sometimes you just want to have an experience with 10+ of your best friends, and we don’t want to keep you from that! That is where the allowed number comes in to play. This is the maximum number of players we allow in that particular theme. This just ensures that no one gets left out! We will list these numbers once we have tested the new themes.
How can I book a corporate event?
We would love to host your corporate training or team building event. Check our Corporate Team Building page for more information.
How can I schedule party or special occasion?
From birthday parties to marriage proposals, we can customize a room to maximize the element of surprise. See Private Parties for more information.
What is your cancellation/change policy?
We will try our best to accommodate booking changes, but we ask that you contact us at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled room escape game time. Please note there are no refunds, and no shows and late shows will not be re-scheduled.
Are those real pirates in the photos?
Yes, they are known in these parts as the Rogues Armada, and are in fact the official pirate fleet of the city of Boston, as well as Room Escapers. You can learn more about who they are, and what they do here.
How do we escape the room?
We take your safety seriously – you are never really chained in or locked in.
Here are some hints to help:
- Teamwork makes dream work
- Communication is key
- Put all clues in a central location – move them once they have been used to solve a puzzle
- Come with a fun, enthusiastic attitude. Teams that get into the game always finish faster (and have more fun!)
- We have some of the best bars in Boston next door – but save the alcohol for celebrating after the game – you will need all your brain cells to find the treasure!
- Keep an eye on the time – and know when to ask for a hint
Why choose Room Escapers escape room games?
Top Rated. Check out our Reviews!
Flexibility. We space our bookings by 2 hours so that our customers never feel rushed.
Fun. Escape rates of 15-20% means that over 80% of players don’t get the opportunity to experience all the great puzzles in a room. Our focus is on 100% fun — your team chooses the game level (hard or easy) by asking for hints.
Themes. We offer a wide variety of themes with something to appeal to any one. Most of our themes are based off of real events in New England and Boston history. Our apothecary themed room The Chymist is inspired by a real apothecary that used to be in the very same building!
Great Location in Boston. Room Escapers has two locations right on the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston — great midway points for a stop as you explore the city. Both locations are just steps from multiple T stations, making us easily accessible. As an added plus, we are right by some of the best restaurants, markets and pubs in Boston!
Parking Validation. We validate parking for Parcel 7 Garage (also known as the Haymarket garage). Our players can park for $3 for 3 hours. This is mainly for our Blackstone St location.
Value. We strive to offer my customers the best escape room value with no hidden booking fees.
